Rare pair of 19thc. Victorian earthenware portrait figures of the young Prince of Wales and the Princess Royal astride Shetland Ponies. Very unusual to get black ponies, they are usually white. Attributed to Thomas Parr pottery c.1850. They were styled from the engraving by John Cochran after a painting by William Salter (1804-1875).
Condition: Very good, good moulding, slight rubbing to paintwork on reverse of pony on left hand figure. slight variation to paint work on bases. I am 99% sure that they are a proper pair.
