19thc. Staffordshire Portrait Religious figure of The Rev. John Bryan. 1770-1856. Wesleyan Minister, born at Llanfyllin; joined Calvinistic Methodists in 1798 but soon transferred to the Wesleyans. Minister of various Welsh and English circuits from 1801-1824, subsequently set up as a grocer, first at Leeds and later at Caernarvon, where he continued to preach until his death.  Made many converts by his brilliant preaching.
